The UAE has announced New Year holidays for public and private sectors across all ministries and companies in the country.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced the details of the New Year's holiday, which falls on Saturday.
The authorities said, “The New Year holiday for all ministries and federal entities has been announced as Saturday, 1st January, 2022, with official duty to resume on Monday, 3rd January.”
The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said that January 1, 2022, would be an official paid holiday for the private sector employees in the country.
The announcement was made on Sunday in a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and is based on the new weekday work system in the federal government sector.
The UAE Government adopted the new system of weekly work from Jan1, 2022.
According to the new law, employees will be working for four and a half days per week.
The UAE is the first nation in the world to introduce a national working week shorter than the global five-day week.
The holidays will on Saturday and Sunday, and Friday will be a half-day.
According to the law, Friday sermons and prayers will be held after 1.15pm all year long in the UAE.
However, in Sharjah, Friday will be full holiday.
