Reports on amnesty for visa violators false: Sharjah Police

The Sharjah Police affirmed that the news about the amendment of the status of overstays, in return for fees paid at one of the service centres in Sharjah, is just a rumour, stressing that information should be taken only from the relevant authorities.
The police cautioned on promoting rumours and spreading unreliable news via the social media platforms, pointing out that it is a crime punishable by the law.
They called on everyone to verify the source of information and take it only from its official source and the official platforms of the competent authorities.
This warning comes after several Asian workers headed to the Sharjah Police enquiring about the news that circulated on the social media.
The police affirm that they have all the technical means which enable them to pursue the source of these false rumours and promoters, stressing that they will be arrested and referred to the court to preserve and stabilise the security of society.
Recently, under the directives and continued guidance of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Digital Office (SDO), launched “Digital Sharjah,” a smart application that seamlessly integrates a host of essential public services provided by different government entities and private sector companies on a single, simplified digital user interface.
The Beta version of the smart application was launched during a virtually held press conference, in the presence of Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the SDO, and 400 attendees who included government representatives, entrepreneurs and members of the local press.
The various offerings and USPs of this new, futuristic service were detailed at the conference alongside an explanation of SDO’s strategic vision behind designing this world-class digital public service interface, which signals the crossing of a big milestone in Sharjah’s digital transformation journey and ambitions of smart governance.
