Saudi Arabia sets 10-day mandatory interval between two Umrahs

The Saudi Supreme authority has set an interval of 10 days between the issuance of two Umrah permits for pilgrims of all age groups.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said that a pilgrim, who obtained a permit to perform Umrah, can book an appointment for a second Umrah through the Eatmarna or Tawakkalna applications at the end of the specified 10-day period after the performing the first Umrah.

The ministry announced the news on its Twitter handle.

The Ministry attributed this amendment in determining the permissible period for repeating Umrah to the precautionary measures that were re-applied in the Two Holy Mosques.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque had announced that it had implemented physical distancing measures between worshippers and pilgrims in the entire Grand Mosque and its outer courtyards, and reinstated posters of physical distancing between the ranks of worshipers and the paths of pilgrims.

The procedure included the courtyard and the places inside the Great Mosque of Makkah and its courtyards, in order to preserve the safety of pilgrims and worshipers and to prevent the corona pandemic.

This step comes after the Ministry of Interior announced its decision to reinstate the obligation to wear facemasks and apply physical distancing in all open and closed sites, after the increase in infections with the new Coronavirus and the rise in the epidemiological curve index in the Kingdom.
