A video of a Saudi man risking his life to save a dog from torrential rain that almost killed the animal has gone viral.
The young man heard the dog crying out, which prompted him to help it.
Citizens also demanded from animal welfare societies in the Kingdom to honour the young man, who has not yet been identified.
The researcher and legal adviser, Ziyad Bin Mansour Al-Qurashi, praised the great humanitarian work done by the man in rescuing the dog, saying, “Islam enjoined kindness to animals and made human qualities compassion.”
He revealed that animals are unable to defend themselves in difficult circumstances such as floods and torrents, and on e should show mercy on such animals by securing food, housing and shelter for them. God has arranged a great reward for anyone who performs this good deed, a reason to enter heaven.
It is noteworthy that the torrential rain has begun to intensify since last Friday, turning into a river flowing in the middle of the mountains and valleys, north of Makkah.
The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia expects severe thunderstorms would reduce visibility over parts of the Makkah regions, in addition to fog during the night.
