An Emirati child, (M.M.S.B.), two years and three months old, drowned in a swimming pool in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), last night (Saturday). This is the second child who drowned in a swimming pool within about 30 days.
Official sources in Ras Al Khaimah said that the accident occurred at 11:45pm late on Saturday, and the victim was transferred to Saqr Government Hospital, where he arrived at about midnight.
Salem Mohammad, the victim’s grandfather, told Gulf Today that the little boy was accompanied by his mother and his older sister (4 years), when the accident took place, explaining that the “pool,” in which he drowned, is for “adults,” according to his mother’s statement.
The victim breathed his last in the hospital, the grandfather added. The sources indicated that the hotel places two signs around the swimming pool, the first says, “Swimming time is from 9 am to 8 pm”, while the second warns, “There is no “swimming lifeguard” available after 8 pm, so swimming will be your responsibility.”
