Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), met on Monday morning the members of the Deans of the Faculties Council and the Directors of Research Centres and Institutes at the University’s main building.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, praising the University’s global position and its high-quality provided education, extending appreciation to the efforts of all its employees, shedding light on the importance of continuing professional development to ensure the University’s progress.
During his speech, Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, welcomed Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, reviewing a brief about the University’s achievements, being one of the major universities in the country and the region, attracting students who study in various colleges, with academic programmes reaching 114 in various scientific and literary disciplines.
The deans of the various faculties gave an overview of each faculty, in terms of the number of students, programmes, research production, and the roles of faculties in serving the community, in addition to their classification locally and globally, providing a quick presentation of future plans, initiatives, and multidisciplinary programmes.
A number of directors of research centres and institutes and heads of departments at the University presented a review of the existing research groups at the University, shedding light on the most important community service projects. They also highlighted the wide range of services provided by research institutes and centres in the field of scientific research, smart partnerships with local and international institutions, and the advisory services provided by the University for various entities in different academic and scientific disciplines.
During the meeting, the President of the University of Sharjah listened to a presentation on the University’s halls and classrooms development project, which is one of the strategic projects according to the university’s current five-year plan, which will be worked on in four successive stages.

The project aims to promote the development of the teaching and learning system and teaching methods, transforming education into a hybrid and flexible work system, especially after the global conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project also aims to provide a new classroom design in terms of lighting, safety and sustainability, in line with people with disabilities, in addition to multi-use interaction through high-level means of communication and others.
UoS organises Sharjah Int’l Conference on Education in Post COVID-19: The University of Sharjah (UoS) is set to organise the Sharjah International Conference on Education in Post COVID-19: Future Trends in Teaching & Learning: Employability & Skills driven curriculum, on 14th-16th March, 2022.
The conference will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS).
The conference will include several keynote sessions, specialised workshops and over 150 research papers which will be presented in several technical and scientific parallel sessions spread over the three days of the conference.
The main topics of the conference include updating instructional delivery, curriculum, assessment incorporation of advanced technological tools in teaching and learning.
Special sessions will be organised and dedicated to knowledge sharing, experience and lessons learned during the past 2 years for planning for better educational processes in post COVID-19 era.
The conference will also discuss artificial intelligence in education, employability driven skills and new trends in teaching and learning.
Keynote talks and open forums will be delivered by well renowned experts in the academia, focusing on creative solutions for instructional delivery, personalised learning, student engagement and solutions for students with special needs. In addition, there will be special sessions on accreditation and curriculum reforms. In addition, special sessions will be organised solely for graduate students to present their research work and papers.
