The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the ruling of the Court of First Instance to imprison two Arabs for 6 months, to be followed by deportation after serving their sentences. The court fined the two suspects Dhs3,000 after they were charged with robbing an Asian girl whom one of them knew through a social networking programme.
The case dates back to September 2021, when an Asian girl filed a report stating that she had been forcibly robbed after being threatened with death inside her home.
According to the victim’s statement, she was attacked by two persons who knocked on the door of her house in the Global City, where they entered the house, and one of whom threatened her with a knife while the other paralysed her movement, asking for her money.
The victim added that she attempted to resist them, but they threatened to kill her if she did not respond to their request so she handed them Dhs3,000 and then they fled.
A policeman testified in the interrogations that an investigation team rushed to the site of a report which was received by the operations room that a girl was robbed by force in one of the apartments of Global City.
After collecting evidence and unloading surveillance cameras in the area, the two suspects, who denied their crime in the interrogations were identified.
They were confronted with the girl, and she recognised them.
One of them confessed that he knew the girl through a social networking programme, where she offered massage services on her page, and he agreed with her to take advantage of the service, so she sent him her location which he headed to with his friend.
He claimed that when they entered the flat they discovered that it was run for indecent actions so they left the place.
When confronting the two suspects with what the CCTV monitored, they confessed to their crime.
