The Sharjah City Municipality announced that 1,100 parking spaces will be subject to fees along Al Mamzar Corniche Street, as of Monday 14/2/2022, with the aim of providing public parking spaces for residents and visitors at all times and keeping pace with the urban and population growth in the emirate and to prevent the misuse of spaces by parking for long periods, or leaving vehicles, and neglecting them in a way that distorts the civilised appearance of Sharjah.
Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazien, director of the Public Parking Department in Sharjah City Municipality, affirmed that the municipality prepared parking spaces in the Al Mamzar area by re-planning them and subjecting them to fees all around the week and official holidays, as it is one of the vital and tourist destinations.
The municipality also installed directional signs and blue plates indicating that the areas are subject to fees, throughout the week and on holidays.
Abu Ghazien explained that the payment of fees in this area will be through the application of digital Sharjah, text messages or seasonal subscriptions, which affirms the municipality's keenness to rely on digital transformation, in line with the goals and visions of the emirate.
He also indicated that the inspection teams distributed awareness leaflets in that area to raise awareness and alert people that they are subject to fees.
