Gulf Today Report
Very often we hear reports from India of violence, rape, mobs lynching a person on grounds of religious aberration, and even cases of domestic beatings. However, there are still many who are shining models of humanity, who care for the people's welfare. But they are not just mouthing rhetoric of doing good, but getting into the act itself.

To illustrate. A few years ago, at Navi Mumbai’s Juinagar railway station, a girl was attempting to cross the tracks, unmindful of a train approaching. She was in a tearing hurry, and if she had approached the tracks it would have been fatal. But the quick action of a policeman at the platform saved her from imminent death. He jumped in and pulled her back, just in time.
Last year, a six-year-old boy walking with his visually impaired mother at a railway station in Maharashtra when he accidentally slipped and fell into the tracks. A pointsman with the railways, who was 60 metres away, saw the boy fall onto the tracks and ran towards him. He lifted him onto the platform seconds before a train arrived. The dramatic rescue earned praise from none other than the railway minister himself.
Mohammed Mehboob
In a new development, another braveheart did a daring rescue act, this time in the city of Bhopal.
On the evening of February 5, when Mohammed Mehboob, a carpenter by profession, was walking towards his factory in the Barkhedi area of Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, he saw a goods train approaching.
As he stopped to let the train pass, the 37-year-old was utterly shocked to see a girl, who was standing with her parents, suddenly fall onto the tracks.
What made things worse and bone-chilling was that a goods train was approaching.
The bold Mehboob, without any regard for his own life, ran towards the girl who was struggling to get up.
The quick-thinking man, with a solid presence of mind, then dove towards the girl, aware that there was little time to save her. Crawling towards her, he dragged the girl to the middle of the track-bed.
In order to ensure the safety of the girl, the vigilant man kept her head down.
The train passed over them, without harming them at all. The girl's life was saved, thanks to the sheer bravery of the Musllim carpenter, according to a report in a section of the Indian media.
A video of the heroic rescue has been widely shared on social media.
