Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, launched an initiative aimed at reducing the impact of plastic bottles on the environment.
The initiative of Sheikh Hamdan comes within the framework of the "Dubai Initiative" campaign, which aims to spread awareness and exchange information about water and plastic consumption, which will have a significant positive impact on the environment.
The Crown Prince of Dubai indicated that according to global consumption rates of plastic bottles, by 2050 the amount of plastic materials will exceed the proportion of fish in the sea, in light of the shocking figures that 91% of plastic waste is not recycled, which leads to 1.1 deaths. Millions of marine creatures and organisms are killed every year.
The initiative will be based on two axis, the first is behavior and support, by directing a culture of conscious consumption, through a campaign to change behavior, and encourage the use of alternatives to plastic.
The second axis is based on the infrastructure, by providing free and safe drinking water, by placing water devices in different locations.
