A 12-year-old student of Gulf nationality died after she was run over by a school bus in the Hamidiya area of Ajman.
Lt. Colonel Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police, said that as soon as the Operations Room received the report at 3:48 pm on Tuesday, that there had been an accident involving a student from Umm Ammar Secondary School, the police and ambulance teams immediately went to the site. It was found that the student sustained a severe head injury and later died.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bus was without a supervisor.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Al-Falasi said that the student, after school hours, boarded the school bus. The student got off the bus and came in front of the bus.
It is at that moment that the bus moved and ran over her.
The police confirmed that the bus driver was arrested and all legal measures were being taken into consideration.
The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department expressed deep regret over the death of the student, extending the condolences of the Ajman Police General Command to her family and relatives, praying to the Almighty to grant them patience and solace on the loss of their daughter.
Al Falasi also appealed to bus drivers to abide by traffic laws and regulations, pay attention and not get busy with anything other than the road, in order to save students' lives and ensure safe arrival to their homes.
