The National Search and Rescue Centre (NSRC), in coordination with the Critical National Infrastructure and Coasts Authority on Friday, rescued an American man whose boat sank near Das Island.
The NSRC’s operations room received a report from the coast guard, stating that a boat had sunk near Das Island with a 65-year-old man on board.
The authorities received a call from the man’s wife, who was called by her husband, informing her that he was clinging to one of the offshore platforms after his boat had sunk.
The man was located through the operational assistance systems of the NSRC by the (AEMCC), which is connected to the global system for search and rescue “Cospas SARSAT” that relies on satellites, to pick up distress signals.
The search and rescue aircraft was dispatched to the location of the man, as the team was able to airlift and transfer the stranded man to Ruwais Hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment, while ensuring that proper precautionary measures are observed.
Recently, the National Search and Rescue Centre (NSRC), in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Police, conducted a search and medical evacuation mission for a 28-year-old Iranian woman in the desert of Al Ain.
In a report received from the Abu Dhabi Police operations room, it was reported that a car accident had occurred in the desert of Al Ain and that the woman had suffered severe and isolated injuries to her body. The case warrants an immediate response.
The site was checked by the operation team of NSRC. With the capabilities of NSRC’s search and rescue aircraft, the SAR team was able to evacuate the injured woman to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain to receive the necessary treatment.
The mission was conducted, while ensuring and observing all precautionary and preventive measures related to COVID-19.
