The UAE Digital Government affirmed that the UAE government intends to use drones to deliver some services such as delivering Emirates identity cards (EID), driving licences and other transactions.
The government clarified that there are already 15 channels to provide persons with electronic and smart services through the official portals and mobile phones, namely are: The official portal of the UAE government, The “Tamm” website for Abu Dhabi government services, Dubai Digital, Service Centre 1, Sharjah Digital, and the official portals of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah government, the UAE government smart apps, the Abu Dhabi Tamm services app, Dubai Now app, the Dubai services apps, the unified Ajman government app (eAjman), and the Ras Al Khaimah Smart Government Applications Store (mRAK).
Regarding using the robot, the Digital Government reported that the UAE used the robot to perform specialised surgeries in the field of urology, where Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain performed more than 30 operations using the robot.
Moreover, academics at the UAE University developed a humanoid robot which can care for children with autism, and provide them with effective treatment and social communication.
The government also pointed out that Emirates NBD introduced the “Pepper” robot in some of its branches in the country. Pepper is there in the bank’s marketing and promotional activities, as it has the ability to communicate directly with people and provide them with products and service options in an interactive way.
Besides, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security also introduced the "Hamad robot" at the customer service centre in the authority's branches across the UAE, to provide various services.
