The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) received a certificate from the Guinness World Records, for the largest donation to a patient.
Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Deputy Secretary-General for Marketing and Resources Development at ERC, said that the Authority received the certificate after donating Dhs8 million to treat the Syrian girl Julie, who suffers from a rare disease that endangers her life.
He added that the decision to treat the Syrian girl came in implementation of the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and Honorary Chairwoman of the ERC “Mother of the Nation”, as she instructed to bear the costs of treating the Syrian girl.
Immediately, the ERC with the follow-up of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of (ERC), implemented the directives of Sheikha Fatima, by providing the full cost for treating the two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy.
