Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), witnessed on Monday morning, the opening of The Sharjah International Conference on Education in Post COVID-19, which will be held over three days in Al Razi Hall in Medical Colleges under the slogan “ Employability & Skills driven curriculum”.
The opening activities of the conference began with the playing of the national anthem of the UAE, after which the attendees listened to a recorded speech of Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi for his support and sponsorship of this important conference. Which discusses an important file in its current version, related to the topic of education and learning in the post-coronavirus era.
In his speech, Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the UoS, addressed the experience of the University of Sharjah in dealing with the challenges it faced during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting that the factors for success in confronting COVID-19, which he summarised in adequate preparations in infrastructure, technical training, and updating policies and procedures and providing support to students and professors, had a great impact on continuing the educational process with success.
The Director of the University of Sharjah pointed to the importance of the conference in discussing everything related to educational systems during abnormal conditions, and working to make changes to achieve a set of educational goals related to modernisation, technology, distance education, and cooperation between educational institutions.
Dr. Saeed Musabah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Education Council, gave a speech in which he referred to the great change brought about by the pandemic in various aspects of social and educational life and curricula, pointing to the importance of developing and renewing systems and focusing on scientific material and modern sciences, enabling students to deal with various variables.
Dr. Muhadtha Al Hashemi, Chairman of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, stressed during her speech the need for cooperation and interaction between the various responsible authorities in the field of education and learning to prepare for future education that depends on the production of flexible and innovative systems.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi honoured the main speakers at the conference.
