The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a European man to six months in jail to be followed by deportation and fined him the value of a wristwatch worth Dhs600,000 that he stole with the help of six others, who are still at large, during a dinner party on a boat in Dubai.
The case dated back to November last year when an Arab filed a complaint in which he stated that he had been assaulted and robbed at the end of a dinner party on board of a boat.
The victim stated in the investigations, he was assaulted by seven people at the end of a voyage and dinner party organized by a tourism company between Creek Harbour and Ras Al Khor area in Dubai.
The victim added that the perpetrators were among the party attendees and they assaulted him and stole his valuable wrist watch of an estimated value of Dhs600,000.
According to the official documents, a team of detectives gathered inferences and checked the surveillance cameras at the place of the incident and on the boat.
The team managed to detect and arrest a suspect who was identified by the victim in the suspect queue.
On interrogation, the defendant denied any connection to the crime, alleging that he tried to help the victim while being assaulted by anonymous people.
He, however, had to admit the crime after being faced by the inferences.
