Three Pakistani brothers and their accomplice shot dead a young girl in Ghokti area, The Express Tribune reported on Wednesday.
Police say the brothers killed their sister after her photo with a boy was posted on Facebook last week.
Police have been searching the girl’s body for the last two days after registering a murder case against the accused killers. The brothers had thrown their sister’s body into the Indus River.
As the incident happened in a rural area, it is very difficult for law enforcement agencies to reach there to arrest the killers, police said.
“We have not traced any culprit yet,” confirmed a senior police officer Ali Gul, added that we will arrest them soon.
Speaking to Express Tribune, Gul said that we have received information that a girl was shot dead and her body was thrown into the river.
Gul also confirmed that the young girl was gunned down when her brothers saw her photo with a boy on Facebook. “It seem to be a case of honour killing,” he added.
A local journalist commented on the incident that “this is a rural area and sharing photos on social media disliked and considered a dishonour.”
