AUS alumni rated number one in UAE by employers, world ranking report reveals

AUS graduates are the top choice in the UAE by employers in the areas of architecture and design, business, and engineering, according to QS World University Subject Rankings 2022.

This year’s report represents the most diverse collection of institutions from around the world, with almost 4,000 individual university programmes assessed. Rankings are based on research quality and accomplishments, academic reputation and graduate employment.

For the 2022 rankings, the QS report draws on nearly 75,000 survey responses from graduate employers worldwide. It notes that employment preference in the UAE has been given to AUS alumni, particularly in architecture and the built environment, art and design, business and management, accounting and finance, and a wide range of engineering disciplines.

AUS alumni continue to leave their mark in all industries at the national and international level. Graduates of the College of Engineering (CEN) have been recruited in some of the largest global organisations, while many have assumed ministerial and high-level government positions in the UAE or established themselves as successful entrepreneurs. The world’s major business players, including Emirates Group, Etihad Airlines, Google, Unilever, Boston Consulting Group and PwC, continue to attract AUS alumni from the School of Business Administration (SBA). Additionally, the art and design scene in the UAE and the region has also been enriched by the contributions of graduates from the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD). Many CAAD alumni are behind some of the most impressive architectural and interior design projects in the region, including The Museum of the Future, The Dubai Twisted Bridge, and the La Mer waterfront development, and are leaders in the region’s cultural industries.

Dr. Juan Sanchez, Provost and Chief Academic Achievement Officer at AUS, said QS’s recent report reaffirms the high levels of confidence AUS graduates and current students can have in the value of their degree in the workforce.

“AUS has created rich educational opportunities for its students to gain strong global experience as they use the skills they have gained to realise their full potential,” said Dr. Sanchez.

“The findings of the QS World Subject Rankings 2022 are a testament to the trust employers have in our institution and our alumni. We continue to engage with the community and industries to further understand their needs in this ever evolving and changing world as we also work towards the advancement of the UAE and its development and innovation agenda,” he said.

The results of the QS World Subject Rankings 2022 also showed that AUS has advanced in its world ranking in the areas of engineering and architecture and design, placing it competitively among some of the world’s major universities.

The university held its place as the number one design institute in the UAE, with CAAD’s acclaimed programmes in architecture and the built environment moving up to the top 150 in the world — positioning AUS just behind the Ivy League’s Yale University.

As number one in civil and structural engineering in the UAE, AUS has advanced to be among the top 150 universities globally, alongside Princeton University. For programmes in electrical and mechanical engineering, AUS ranks among the top 300 world universities and one of the top three in the UAE, and among the top 350 globally for studies in chemical engineering.
