The UAE government said on Wednesday that Emiratis who are not vaccinated with either shots are allowed to travel outside the country, highlighting that they undergo a PCR test within 48 hours before the date of travel.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) made the statement during the coronavirus meeting on the latest situation in the UAE.
The authorities said, “We urge the public to follow relevant precautionary measures covering all passengers before and after travel.
The update stipulates that non-vaccinated Emiratis are allowed to travel, provided they undergo a PCR test within 48 hours before the date of travel. They must also complete the travel forms in the AlHosn App to turn the application’s status green.
The authorities said that the travelling protocol relevant to unvaccinated Emirati citizens comes into effect on April 16, 2022.
The health experts said that travellers coming to UAE, with those under the age of 16 who are not vaccinated being exempt from requiring a PCR test result upon arrival, but they must still adhere to all precautionary measures in place in the country.
Experts said, “We highlight the importance of contacting the country’s diplomatic missions in other countries in case of a suspected infection, as well as of using the Tawajudi service, to ensure the safety of Emirati citizens during their travels under all emergency circumstances.”
