Sharjah road’s partial closure announced

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority announced that traffic would be diverted in Saeed Bin Obaid Al Jarwan Square on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Road, without a complete closure of the square from April 13, 2022.

This comes within the strategic plan of the Authority that aims at developing the emirate’s squares and transforming them into intersections controlled by permanent traffic lights, in order to lessen traffic jams and ensure safe and smooth flow.

 “The Authority has begun its development plan, which includes transformation of Saeed Bin Obaid Al Jarwan Square into an intersection at a cost of Dhs45 million,” Eng. Yousef Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, said.

The development works translate directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, regarding improving the quality of the infrastructure in the emirate on a continuous basis to enhancing its economic, investment and tourism status locally and globally, he added.

For her part, Eng. Fatima Al Ketbi, Director of Road Projects Department at SRTA, explained that the development work in Saeed Bin Obaid Al Jarwan Square, which connects four residential neighborhoods, “Al Ghafia, Al Jazat, Al Sabkha and Al Hazana”, would include full reconstruction of the square’s area and the roads leading to it from the four directions with 950 m in Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Road and 700 m in Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Road.
