The famous American billionaire and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, said that he does not own a home and often sleeps in the spare bedrooms at his friends’ homes when he visits the Bay Area and revealed that he recently resorted to surfing.
Despite the surprising lifestyle of the founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, the tech tycoon, whose net worth is estimated at $270 billion, revealed in an interview with Chris Anderson on the TED platform that the only luxury he enjoys is his private plane.
He justified this by saying, “If I do not use the plane, I will have fewer hours to work.”
Musk tweeted in May 2020, “I am selling almost all material possessions, and I will not own any home.” He also tweeted in June of last year that his primary residence was rented from SpaceX, worth $50,000, near the company's location in Texas.
He also admitted owning an "occasion house.".
Asked about the disparity in wealth in the United States between ordinary Americans and billionaires like him, Musk said, "Sure, it would be very difficult to happen if I was spending billions of dollars a year on personal matters, but that's not the case."
“I don't have a yacht, I don't take vacations,” Musk responded to the question about wealth disparity across the world and the amount of money spent by billionaires.
