The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian gang to 3 years in jail to be followed by deportation after serving their sentences, after being convicted with attempting to kidnap their partner's sister and killing her.
The gang’s attempt was foiled when a deliveryman intervened and rescued her.
The details of the case date back to December 2021, when a deliveryman filed a report alerting that a woman in the International City was being kidnapped by compatriots.
He added in the interrogations that he saw some people stopping a woman on the road and threatening her with electric shocks to force her to accompany them, against her will.
The police arrested the suspects, and one of them turned out to be the victim's brother.
During interrogations, two suspects confessed that the victim’s brother brought them from their home country to help him kidnap his sister, in return for Dhs15,000 each.
Each of them reportedly received Dhs5,000, a flight ticket, and an apartment to stay in.
The suspect confessed that he planned to force his sister to return the money she had borrowed from him, and that they rented a vehicle from a compatriot in return for Dhs2000 per month.
He added they changed the vehicle plate numbers to use it safely in monitoring the victim, and on the day of the incident they saw her heading to her workplace where they committed their crime.
He planned the crime and brought the other suspects to help him, but their crime was thwarted after the delivery man intervened and saved the victim, he confessed.
