A negligent motorist caused multiple accidents on a road in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi police have said.
The Abu Dhabi Police warned of the dangers of not obeying traffic rules while driving in the streets.
The Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Center and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in the Central Operations Sector of Abu Dhabi Police, launched awareness messages entitled "Safety Path", and the "Your Comment" initiative, which broadcast live videos of a drivers who have committed several traffic violations, namely not using the signal when changing lanes and overtaking from the shoulder of the road.
The authorities present an analytical study of traffic accidents and their causes to reduce erroneous behaviour.
On Friday, a video shared by Abu Dhabi Police showed a negligent motorist stopped in the middle of a busy road after some parts of his SUV came off.
The motorist should have steered to the layover area, but instead chose to stay in the middle track in the speeding traffic.
Subsequently, a sedan narrowly misses the SUV, but a second car smashes into it leading it to go on to the fast lane.
The speeding car in the fast also crashed in to the SUV.
This lead to severe injuries several motorists and massive traffic jam.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers of the dangers of stopping in the middle of the road for any reason and called for heading to the nearest exit to ensure the safety of road users.
The police called on drivers of the danger of being busy while driving using the phone, and the driver turning to talk to his companions or being busy with photography, adjusting makeup and grooming, and other behaviors that lead to distraction from the road and thus lead to serious traffic accidents.
The police stated that According to Clause (32) regarding traffic control rules and procedures No. 178 of 2017:
- Being busy on the road while driving a vehicle using the phone.
- Being busy on the road while driving a vehicle in any form whatsoever
It incurs a fine of Dhs800 and 4 black poin
