His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, met on Tuesday managing editors of cultural and literary magazines issued by the Department of Culture (DC) at Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre.
At the outset of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan welcomed the attendees, praising the Department of Culture’s continuous efforts in the field of cultural publishing, and the enlightened materials and ideas presented through various magazines in varied fields, highlighting the great contribution to supporting the cultural process in the Emirate.
The Sharjah Ruler sparked light on the importance of integrated efforts which would contribute to achieving the cultural vision of Sharjah as well as preserving the distinguished qualitative achievements of by the Emirate in various fields of knowledge.
Sharjah Ruler reviewed the emirate’s pioneering experience in the field of culture over many years, recalling the various stages it went through, especially in terms of cultural publications.
The meeting addressed the specialised magazines issued and supervised by Sharjah DC in the cultural fields, including Theater Magazine, Sharjah Cultural Magazine, Al Heera from Sharjah, Al Sharqiya, Al Wusta, and Al Rafid.
He shined light during the meeting on the importance of developing work during the upcoming period in the field of cultural media work to attract more talented young writers to write in theatre, poetry, novel, story and other types of culture.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture; Ahmed Burhima, Editor-in-chief of the Theater magazine; Butti Al Mazloum, Director of Al Heera Literary Council; Muhammad Al-Buraiki, Editor-in-chief of Al Qwafi magazine; Nawaf Younis, Editor-in-chief of Sharjah Cultural magazine; Dr. Omar Abdel-Aziz and Abdel-Fattah Sabry from the editorial board of Al Rafid magazine; Mohamed Abdel-Sami, Editorial Secretary of Al Heera from Sharjah magazine, and Mohamed Walad Salem, Managing Editor of Al Wusta and Al-Sharqiya magazines.
SHEIKH SULTAN AWARD FOR CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT OF YOUTH WELCOMES PARTICIPATION: As part of its continuous journey to enable the youth to express their passions, talents and abilities and encourage them to surpass their potential, The Sheikh Sultan Award for Celebrating the Spirit of Youth is accepting applications for its third session until later this year in December.
Young UAE citizens and residents between the ages 13 to 18 are invited to take part in this annual award, which recognises the talents and potential of the youth and urges them to empower their societal responsibilities and self-confidence by unleashing their capabilities.
His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has continuously believed in the integral role that young people play in developing their countries and helping realise the aspirations of their societies. Reflecting his faith in the youth, he launched the award in February 2019 to provide young talents with an optimal environment that would nurture and enable them to explore and develop their skills and talents, encouraging them to take initiative, volunteer, practise teamwork, and compete ethically.
Highlighting the creativity of the youth through music, painting, sports, and adventures in nature, The Sheikh Sultan Award for Celebrating the Spirit of Youth represents a pillar of Sharjah’s tireless efforts towards supporting the younger generation in building the future and continuing the UAE’s path of development and prosperity.
Hamda Bin Al Shaikh, project coordinator at The Sheikh Sultan Award for Celebrating the Spirit of Youth, indicated that the award is the first of its kind in the region in terms of positive cultural and social impact, motivating young people to celebrate their capabilities and translate them into everyday practices. The aim is to consolidate the spirit of cooperation, partnership and integration, thus building a generation of creative pioneers.
Hamda Bin Al Shaikh added: “We invite all eligible citizens and residents of the UAE between 13 and 18 years to participate in the award and embark on a unique experience to challenge themselves and empower their will and determination. The award is part of a system built on a foundation of mental and physical learning that integrates academic knowledge with talent and skills. Every participant is a winner, as they are only competing with themselves and their potential.”
