Massive fire destroys market in Kuwait

The Kuwaiti Fire Department announced that it is dealing with a massive fire that broke out on Monday in the tent market in Al-Rai area, according to a statement carried by the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The firefighters stated that four firefighting teams are fighting the fire and trying to control it and prevent its spread, noting that it has affected tents and plastic materials used in the manufacture of tents.

Videos of the accident were circulated on social media, showing plumes of smoke in the sky as the fire broke out, while firefighting teams were trying to put it out.

The force indicated that the fire spread over an area of approximately 4 km and affected nearby sheds.

Pictures and videos circulating showed the firefighting teams dousing the fire and trying to control it and prevent its spread to other areas.
