The Riyadh police announced the arrest of two citizens who appeared in a circulating video clip, one of whom was assaulting a woman in a neighbourhood of the capital.
Riyadh Police explained that it was found from the initial inference procedures that the incident occurred as a result of family disputes, and that the assaulted woman did not file a report with the security authorities.
The authorities indicated that the citizens were arrested, and initial legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
Last year, the Public Prosecutor in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Saud Bin Abdullah Al-Mojeb, issued an arrest warrant for a person who appeared in a video clip circulating on social media, in which he stalks a woman in a public place in Al-Kharj Governorate and then beats her.
The local media quoted an official source in the Saudi Public Prosecution, saying, “Based on what the Parliamentary Monitoring Center submitted of a video clip circulating on social media, the content showed that a person stalked a woman in a public place in Al-Kharj Governorate and beat her up.”
The man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a woman.
The source explained that the Public Prosecution follows up and monitors all behaviours that disturb the peace and tranquillity of members of the society and that violate their rights guaranteed by the law.
The authorities will spare no effort in referring the perpetrators to the judiciary to obtain strict punishment.
