The UAE and India have, for centuries, enjoyed strong, sustained relationships ever since trade was established as the primary activity connecting the people of both nations.
Over the decades, UAE-India relations have continued to grow, as has the bonhomie of the people of both nations.
An example of such camaraderie was set by a Dubai police officer.
International Olympic handball referee and duty officer at Al Barsha Police Station in Dubai, Captain Omar Mohammed Zubair Almarzooqi, famously known as Omar Al Zubair, got an invitation from Dr Sri Ram CMP, Chairman & Managing Director of BETEC CAD, to attend his son’s wedding in Hyderabad.
Elated after receiving the wedding invite, Captain Omar Al Zubair and his wife Summaya Almarzooqi made sure to attend the wedding and be part of the memorable moments of the Dr. Sri Ram family.
"I and my wife Summaya were delighted after getting the invite and immediately decided to reach Hyderabad.
"The ceremony provided us with new information about how Hindu marriages are solemnized and the rituals of the country.
Besides gifts, we presented them with a UAE flag and a frame depicting the symbols of the country," he added.
Dr. Sri Ram’s son Vinay tied the knot with Subashree, granddaughter of P Susheela, a famous singer and recipient of the Padma Bhushan award.
Susheela is an Indian playback singer associated with South Indian cinema, primarily from Andhra Pradesh, for over six decades.
She has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as well as by the Asia Book of Records for performing a record number of songs in different Indian languages.
Dr. Sri Ram expressed his delight on receiving Captain Omar Al Zubair and his wife in Hyderabad and made all the arrangements to make their stay wonderful in India.
"I have known Captain Omar Al Zubair for more than five years, and I am grateful that he and his wife attended the wedding ceremony and blessed the couple," said Dr Sri Ram.
The seven-day extravaganza of the big fat wedding kicked off on May 15th.
The celebrity packed guest list in Hyderabad included all major celebrities, politicians, and several multinational CEOs, police officials, bankers, and billionaire pals of the families.
The wedding ceremony was held on May 21 at the Anvaya Conventions in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, with more than 2,000 people in attendance.
