Aamir Liaquat Hussain, former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) of Pakistan and popular television host, died in Karachi under mysterious circumstances, local media reported on Thursday. He was 49 years old.
The Pakistani leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was found unconscious at his home in Khudad settlement and transferred to a private hospital in critical condition.
Reports said Hussain felt unwell on Wednesday night but refused to go to hospital, local Pakistani outlet Geo TV reported.
Javed, Liaquat's employee, said a scream was heard from Liaquat's room on Thursday morning.
The room was locked from the inside.

When there was no response from the other end, his domestic staff broke down his room's door.
Later, doctors said Liaquat died when he was taken to hospital.
Who was Aamir Liaquat Hussain?
— Hussain was born on July 5, 1972, in Karachi, to politician Sheikh Liaquat Hussain and columnist Mahmooda Sultana.
— Hussain began his career as a television anchor when he joined Geo TV in 2001, hosting the religious program Aalim Online.
— He left Geo TV in 2010 and went on to host several Ramzan shows and game shows on other private broadcasters.

— Hussain was later inducted into Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's cabinet as Minister of State for Religious Affairs.

Personal life
Aamir Liaquat Hussain was mired in controversy over domestic abuse.
In May, Aamir's third wife, Dania Shah, approached a court and filed for divorce from the former Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker, local media reported.
Dania took to her Instagram stories to announce the news of her separation from Amir Liaquat.

She further added that she has provided details and proof, including documents, to the court, which will be shared via the media soon.
In her application, a copy of which is available with Images, she accused Liaquat of forcing her to make adult videos to “send to people abroad” and locking her up for five days if she refused to do it.
She also said he “forced her to appear before non-mehram men.” She also accused him of being impotent and consuming drugs.
