In a bizarre incident, a drunken man was nearly dragged into the water by a female crocodile in Mexico’s Tabasco after he was hurling stones at the reptile.
The incident took place in the Gaviotas Norte neighborhood in the city of Villahermosa.
According to local media, the female crocodile was nesting near the La Encantada lagoon when this man, whose identity is not yet known, was seen throwing rocks at her.
This act angered the reptile and she lunged at him.
A video shared on social media showed the crocodile grabbing the man by the hem of his pants and trying to pull him towards the water.
The man somehow freed himself and moved away from the scene.
Local media reported that residents were dismayed because the authorities captured the crocodile that attacked the man.
According a resident, the man invaded the nest to steal eggs.
According to the witnesses' report, the man ended up with some injuries after crocodile bit him.
He left the scene but came back with more officials.
However, civil defence officials from the Tabasco Civil Protection Institute (IPCT) carried out an operation in the area and captured the crocodile.
The reptile was transferred to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (PROFEPA).
Environmental Protection Agency staff said that the crocodile is healthy and officials will rescue its eggs.
The video of the attack has gone viral on social media, with users criticising the man for the inhuman act and disturbing the crocodile’s natural habitat.
