The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), in co-operation with Sharjah Police, amended the truck timings in the emirate on all the roads allowed to be used by trucks, effective from July 4, 2022 (Monday).
Based on this, trucks will be banned between 5:30am to 8:30am and between 3:00pm to 8:00pm except for the following roads: Sharjah-Al Dhaid Road, Emirates Bypass Road and El Hbab-Al Madam Road, where trucks will be banned between 5:30am and 8:30am. Truck timings on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road will remain unchanged.
The authority confirmed that there are valid permits for long periods and it will, co-ordinate with the concerned authorities for trucks to avoid fines.
The amendment is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic movement on all the emirates streets and roads and avoiding bottlenecks caused by trucks due to the fact that the traffic ban period is the peak times for road users.
The amendment is also aimed at ensuring the arrival of employees and school and university students their workplaces at the scheduled times.
The authority is calling on truck drivers to abide by timings, obtain the necessary permits and avoid using roads that are not allowed to be used by trucks.
