Denying money to buy alcohol proved costly for an elderly couple in India after their grandson killed them in the village of Damri in Budaun district of UP.
According to local media, police found the decomposed bodies of the elderly couple in two separate rooms of a house.
Police said that grandson fled the scene after killing them and is now on the run.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an argument broke out between them over alcohol and in anger the grandson killed them.
The deceased have been identified as Prem Shankar (65) and Bhawan Devi (60).
The police have identified the accused as Himesh, 20, who came to the village to attend a wedding ceremony with his grandparents.
According to the guests, they had been living in Delhi.
The family filed a complaint with the police accusing Himesh of killing the grandparents.
The bodies have been sent to a government hospital for autopsy.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection.
Police said that the murder took place on June 22 but the crime was reported to police on Sunday.
Himesh is an alcoholic, the police said.
He often hurled insults at his family.
He asked for money to buy alcohol and was reprimanded by his family for it.
“The defendant allegedly killed his grandparents and hid their bodies in two rooms in the house," police said, adding that they were investigating the matter.
