A huge brown bear attacked a trainer in a tent circus in Blagoveshchensk, Russia.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with users criticizing the authorities for abusing the animal.
In Blagoveshchensk, during a circus performance, a bear tried to attack its trainer in front of tourists and children.
The 30 seconds video shows how the bear is trying to escape from the control of the trainer.
He twitches from side to side and twists out of some kind of collar worn around his neck.
However, the animal calmed down so quickly that not all viewers noticed the incident.
The footage shows that soon the bear calmly sat down, and then, when the trainer gave him some kind of treat, the animal even continued to perform.
However, the incident did not go unnoticed.
The video sparked outrage on social media.
Users expressed their pity for the bear, some commentators suggested that performances with animals should be stopped.
A user said, “Pity the bear! Circuses with animals are evil!”
Another wrote, “Circuses should be people! Acrobats, gymnasts, clowns and so on.”
Some commentators suggested that the heat caused the bear’s outrage — outside the temperature almost reached 30°C, and this probably affected the atmosphere in the tent, according to the local media.
Meanwhile, from January 1, 2022, new rules apply for circuses with animals, and everyone must obtain a license to work in the circus.
In the Amur department, the described circus was checked and reported: the maintenance of animals fully complies with current legislation.
In addition, the entrepreneur entered into an agreement with the veterinary specialists of Blagoveshchensk to check the health of the animals.
A complete diet was prepared for the animals, and an action plan was developed for the prevention, detection and elimination of infectious diseases.
