The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian man to five years in prison for stabbing his compatriot roommate by a knife following an argument between them. The convict would be deported after serving the imprisonment term, the Court ordered.
Earlier in last July, a supervisor of labor accommodation in Al Quoz industrial area reported the police about one worker who was murdered by his roommate.
The supervisor stated that he and his colleagues, while they were in their residence, had heard a verbal altercation between the two of the workers in their room.
They rushed towards the room, where they tried to break up the altercation, which turned into a brawl, and then the convict took a knife that was near his bed and stabbed the victim.
A policeman stated in the interrogation that when he had reached the scene, he found the victim dead and drenched in blood, while the convict was sitting next to him trying to rescue him to no avail.
He was arrested, and he admitted to stabbing his colleague intending not to kill him, the cop added The convict said during the interrogation of the Public Prosecution, that the victim had cursed and assaulted him with the hands, as he was under the influence of alcohol.
He also said that he had tried to get away from the victim, but the latter continued to assault him, so he brought a knife that was in the place and stabbed him with it once.
According to the report of the criminal lab, it was found that the stab wound pierced the chest and hit the lung and the heart, as a result of which the victim died.
