UAE witnessed heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon as a result of the country being affected by air depression, and surface winds that led to the formation of rain clouds.
Light rain started falling at 11:30am on Marbadh in Fujairah, while moderate to heavy rain fell on Khudeira in Sharjah, moderate rain on Mleiha, Sharjah-Khorfakkan road and separate areas in Sharjah and heavy rain on Falaj Al Mualla in Umm Al Quwain, Al Gail in Ras Al Khaimah, Khatm Al Shiklah in Al Ain and Al Aweer in Dubai.
The lowest temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius was registered in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 6am, while the highest temperature of 48.2 degrees Celsius was registered in Wetied in Al Dhafrah at 3:15pm UAE local time.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving their vehicles during rainfall as horizontal visibility will be low due to rainfall and sand-stirring winds.
It also advised people to stay away from flooded valleys.
Saturday’s weather is expected to be hot during the day and clear to partly cloudy in general with a chance for some rainy cumulus clouds to be formed in the east and south in the afternoon, the NCM said.
Light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds will blow, turning to strong sometimes and sand-stirring at 15 to 30 and up to 50 kilometres/hour, it added, noting that the sea would have light waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Sunday’s weather will be hot during the day and clear to partly cloudy in general with a chance of some cumulus clouds to be formed, accompanied by rainfall in the east and south in the afternoon, it said. Light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds will blow, turning to strong sometimes and sand-stirring, it added, noting that the sea would have light waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Monday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy sometimes with a chance of some cumulus clouds, rainfall of various intensity on separate areas and noticeable drop in temperature, it said.
Moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds will blow, turning to strong sometimes at 20 to 35 and up to 60 kilometres/hour, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower, the NCM said.
The sea will have light to moderate waves, turning gradually to rough at night in the Arabian Gulf, while it will have moderate waves and will turn to rough in the afternoon in the Sea of Oman.
