The Abu Dhabi Police warned of the risk of illegally transporting passengers and of its negative repercussions on their security and safety. They urged drivers of private vehicles not to transport passengers without permission from the competent authorities.
They also called on the public to use the approved and licensed means of transportation that conform to the global safety requirements and to co-operate in addressing illegal transport for the safety of all.
Stressing the importance of co-operating with partners to address this behaviour and enhance security and community awareness of not using such vehicles that operate illegally, the Abu Dhabi Police stated that dedicated campaigns to detect offenders would continue to be launched in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre, their strategic partner in Abu Dhabi.
Colonel Mubarak Bin Mahiroum, Director of Transport Security Department, stated that the Abu Dhabi Police intensified inspection campaigns to reduce such violations, noting that offenders would face a fine of Dhs3,000 and would get 24 black points while their vehicles would be impounded for 30 days.
