Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadim, Executive Director of the Sharjah Charity Society has set up helpline number to assist people affected by rain and floods in Eastern region.
Khadim said the initiative was launched in cooperation with the competent authorities represented by the General Command of Sharjah Police, Civil Defence, the National Authority for Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Management, the Department of Social Services, and the Emergency Housing Department to support Sharjah Charity’s humanitarian role.
Urgent assistance was provided to many families, and this aid consisted of distributing meals, and working on case studies to determine the type and size of other assistance that is required for each family, as the support provided by the association included several shelter areas in the suburbs of Suhaila and Kalba, in addition to the shelter sites in three schools in the region, as well as the support extended to the neighbouring emirates that were affected by rainwater.
He continued, “A hotline has also been allocated 0506293334 to receive requests for assistance from those affected, which contributes to the speedy response, and to provide the necessary support to ensure living and housing stability.
Khadim explained that the work teams are in a state of continuous work to support the affected, while a survey was conducted to reach the rest of the affected, with the aim of helping them and standing by them for what they were exposed to as a result of the torrential rain that hit the areas.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) is closely monitoring the weather and called on the public to follow the news and related reports, as well as the instructions of relevant authorities.
