A Pakistani police officer's nose and lips were chopped off in Jhang district of Punjab province over allegations of spreading an objectionable video of a woman to the entire village, Express Tribune reported on Monday.
According to a media report, the policeman was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is said to be out of danger.
Jhand’s District Police Officer (DPO) told media persons that the husband and son of the woman were among three suspects who have been arrested.
There are allegations on the police officer that he had shared an objectionable video of the woman and a case is also pending against him in this regard, DPO said.
The DPO said that an investigation was underway against the accused when the suspects took the law into their hands and badly tortured the policeman.
As per the First Information Report (FIR), the policeman allegedly had relations with the woman and he had threatened her that he would kill her son if she refused to meet him.
It stated that when the woman met the policeman, he forcefully made an objectionable video of her. The policeman later started blackmailing her and when she stopped paying money, he spread the video to the entire village.
After the video went viral, a case was registered on the complaint of the woman's son at a local police station.
A police spokesperson said that the suspect had acquired a pre-arrest bail from a local court and the investigation about the sharing of the video was underway.
