The Cabinet, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved the formation of the Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation, headed by Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, and Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama - Minister State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Vice-Chairman of the Committee.
The decision aims to create a supervisory steering committee affiliated with the Council of Ministers for the governance and development of the digital system for government services, business and operations in the federal government under the name of the “Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation.”
Within its terms of reference, the committee aims to supervise and direct the development of the federal government’s digital system, enhance readiness, competitiveness, flexibility and digital harmonization between digital projects and systems in federal government agencies and raise the efficiency of their use of infrastructure and digital assets, in addition to coordinating efforts and enhancing integration between government agencies and institutions to accelerate and maximize the impact Comprehensive digital transformation.
Within its tasks, the committee will work on adopting strategic priorities and objectives for the development of the digital system and digital transformation of government services, processes and business in the UAE government, in addition to preparing policies and standards for the comprehensive digital transformation of the federal government, reviewing, following up and aligning the necessary strategies, policies, programs and initiatives for priority digital transformation, and issuing Guiding controls for strategic projects related to the digitization of government services, business and operations, and the governance of spending and investment in digital projects in the federal government, which contributes to enhancing government efficiency.
The committee includes within its membership: the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government, the Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, the Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, the Head of Government Services for the UAE Government, and the Deputy Director General for the Information and Digital Government Sector at the General Authority for Regulating the Sector Communications and Digital Government, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Finance with a rank of no less than an Assistant Undersecretary.
