The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expects, from Sunday until Thursday, medium to heavy rain in the UAE, marked by lightning and thunder in some eastern and southern regions and Al Ain City. Some inland and western areas may also witness rainfall.
This is due to a surface air depression in the country extending from the east to the west, accompanied by an extension of an air depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere. This may lead to the flow of moist air masses from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman towards the region and the country. It may also cause formation of rainy cumulus clouds over some areas.

The winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, moderate to fresh and strong at times, especially with the formation of the cumulus clouds, shifting dust and dirt, which could affect the horizontal visibility, the NCM added.
The behaviour of the waves will vary between light to moderate to gradually turbulent from Monday night in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the NCM said.
The Centre also confirmed that it is monitoring the situation around the clock and will continue to brief the public on the latest developments. It appeals to the residents to follow the bulletins and reports issued by the NCM and not circulate rumours.
