A man killed his wife in Menoufia governorate in Egypt and claimed that she died due to a car accident, to hide his crime, according to local media on Friday.
The Egyptian security sources stated that the Ministry of Interior found out the circumstances of the crime. The Ministry of Interior said they received a report stating that a 30-year-old woman died in El Shohada centre in Menoufia governorate, and that her husband claimed her death was due to a traffic accident.
The ambulance authority also received a report from the husband stating that his wife sustained injuries in a collision while she was with him in his car, after the car hit a lamppost. He then fled the scene when the ambulance arrived, in an attempt to escape outside the country.
The victim's family suspected what the husband said and affirmed that there were marital differences between them, especially with the difference in age, as the husband was several years older than his wife.
The disappearance of the husband raised doubts about the incident, while the forensic report affirmed that the deceased had been tortured.
The Ministry of the Interior announced the arrest of the fleeing husband.
