A Dubai-based architecture firm has suggested a mind-blowing concept that will redefine Dubai’s skyline.
The firm, Znera Space, which specialises in radical architectural marvels, said that a giant ring-like structure known as the Downtown Circle will encircle the Burj Khalifa.
The Downtown Circle will be a 550-metre-tall ring with homes as well as public, commercial and cultural spaces. The architects believe that the planned project will shift focus from the traditional highrises and gated communities, with the main aim of sustainability.

Znera Space said on its Instagram, “As a response to the dilemma of how to build densely while retaining liveability, the Downtown Circle project establishes a sustainable and self -sufficient vertical urbanism.
“As a singular mega building complex, it aims to create a hyper efficient urban centre that gives back to the environment The proposed 550-metre-tall megastructure offers an alternative to the singular and unconnected highrises found in most metropolitan areas.”
The architecture hovers over Downtown Dubai and circumvents around the Burj Khalifa drawing the most invigorating views and fresh and clean air from the Skypark, a place with different natural scenarios and climates, which forms the central spine of the development.

At the Skypark, visitors and residents can experience the canyons, sandy dunes and plants from various flora. Swamps, waterfalls and tropical vegetation or the digital caves, cascades, fruit-trees and flowers of various hues and species together enrich the green eco system.

Co-founders of Znera Space, Najmus Chowdry and Nils Remess, who often focus on experimental architecture that explores and addresses social boundaries and environmental issues, have drawn up the ambitious project.
The founders said that the futuristic plan of Downtown Circle was coined during the COVID-19 pandemic. Five vertical beams or columns 500 metres high would support the Downtown Circle.
The span of the circle itself would be composed of two main rings held together by a continuous green belt named the Skypark.
Znera Space said, “A fleet of suspended peripheral pods transport passengers from one node to another in the Downtown circle. These suspended vessels travel through a network of rail at the bottom tier to get to their destination.”
If the project gets the green light, it will definitely redefine Dubai’s skyline.
