The authorities in the US state of Arkansas have suspended 3 police officers from work, after a video clip spread of them brutally beating an American citizen in a street.
"3 Crawford County, Arkansas, police officers have been suspended after a video on social media show them beating a man in a parking lot," the Arkansas governor said.
The governor indicated that the authorities opened an extensive investigation into the incident to find out its causes.
The video documented how three policemen pressed the man's body to the ground, beat him with their fists and knees, and hit his head on the asphalt.
American media reports indicated that the victim was named Randal Worcester, a 27-year-old resident of South Carolina.
Police said Worcester faces counts of terrorist threat, resisting arrest, and other assault charges, after he threatened a shop worker near the area where the incident occurred, and beat one of the three policemen.
The three police officers have been suspended pending investigation.
