Man jailed for blackmailing girlfriend with indecent photos, extorting Dhs25,000

The Dubai Court of Misdemeanors sentenced an Asian to six months in prison for blackmailing a compatriot girl by threatening to forward her indecent photos to her father and her friends.

She had to give him Dhs25,000 in order to delete those photo and not  to spread any of them, the Court heard.

The Court also ruled that convict’s mobile phone be confiscated and that he would be deported after serving the jail term.

The case dates back to last April, when an Asian girl filed a complaint with the police reporting that she was blackmailed by her lover, whom she first met last March, when he began to talk to her and she fell in love with him.

She added that the convict took advantage of her love for him, and asked her to do indecent things for him during video calls.

She answered his requests several times, as she trusted him, believing that he would be her future husband.

One day, she was surprised by indecent videos of her sent by the convict through the "WhatsApp" application.

And when she contacted him, the latter told her that he had captured the pictures and videos while they were talking via video calls, threatening that he would send them to her father and her friends unless she give him Dhs25,000.

Accordingly, the convict was summoned to the police station, where he admitted that he had recorded those videos while they were talking via video calls, and that he sent them to her father, a mutual friend and a number of her family members in her home country via the WhatsApp application.
