Light aircraft crashes in Sheikh Zayed Mosque parking lot, pilot injured

A Cessna Caravan light aircraft crashed in one of the external parking lots of Sheikh Zayed Mosque on Wednesday evening.

The Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense teams rushed to the site of the crash.

The police said on Twitter, “Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense teams are dealing with a light aircraft crash at external parking lot of Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

“The crash resulted in a minor injury to a person.”

The police urged members of the public to obtain information from official sources only.

Initial investigations revealed that the Cessna Caravan light plane crashed due to a technical malfunction.

The pilot was taken to the hospital for treatment as a result of a minor injury, without any other injuries.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that preliminary investigations showed that the crash was the result of a technical malfunction while the plane was en route to landing at Al Bateen Private Airport.

The crash site was in an empty area.

As a result of the incident, the pilot was injured and was immediately taken to the nearest hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that investigations are underway into the causes and repercussions of the incident.
