Dense fog blanketed some coastal and inland areas in the country, on Saturday morning, for nine and a half hours, from 11:00 pm on Friday until 8:30 am on Saturday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
This is attributed to that the country being affected by a weak surface pressure systems, accompanied with an extension of an upper air high pressure system, the NCM added.
The fog began to form on Al Falah in Abu Dhabi, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a and Habshan in Al Dhafra Region, on Al Ajban and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road towards Abu Al Abyad, on Al Bahia Road towards Ghantoot and Al Falah Road towards Al Faya, and a number of other areas, the NCM said.
On the other side, the lowest temperature recorded on the country on Saturday was 21.4°C in Raknah in Al Ain at 06:00 am, according to the NCM.
The Centre appealed to the public to exercise cautious and from the traffic instructions during fog formation and low horizontal visibility along some inland and coastal areas.
Also, the Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to be careful due to the low horizontal visibility caused by fog formation, urging them to adhere to the variable speed displayed on signs and electronic signboards to keep safety of all.
The NCM also expects that the weather will be, from Sunday to Wednesday, fair to partly cloudy at times. Low clouds will appear over east coast by morning, with a probability of some convective clouds formation eastwards by afternoon. Humid by night and Monday morning with a probability of mist formation over some coastal areas.
The winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly, freshening at times causing blowing dust during daytime, with a speed of 10 – 25 reaching 35 km/hr. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea, the NCM added.
