The Dubai Misdemeanour Court imprisoned an Asian, who tried to steal 3 air-cooling devices valued at Dhs48,000 from a famous pizza restaurant, for one month and ordered his deportation after serving his sentence.
The Asian had asked 4 workers to climb on top of a building belonging to the restaurant to dismantle the devices and transfer them to another place, allegedly for maintenance.
The details of the case date back to March this year, when the manager of a restaurant on Salah Al Din Street in Al Muraqqabat area in Dubai reported that workers had attempted to steal the restaurant’s air-cooling devices.
The complainant stated in the interrogations that he saw 4 workers on top of the restaurant building tampering with the air-cooling devices, and when he inquired of them about the reason for their presence on top of the building and the nature of their work, they replied that they were maintenance workers working for the suspect who asked them to disassemble the devices and move them to another place for maintenance.
The complainant added that he asked the manager of the restaurant, who denied that there was any maintenance work at the restaurant, so the police were informed, while two of the workers fled and two remained on the site.
According to the case file, the workers reported that a person (the suspect) who worked as an air conditioning technician asked them to go to a building where a pizza restaurant was located and bring 3 machines for maintenance in his workshop, so the convict was summoned, but he denied knowing the workers or about the theft.
