The UAE Public Prosecution Office clarifies the penalty for removing or destroying seals, through a tweet published on Saturday on its social media accounts, clarifying that the penalty for removing or destroying seals placed upon an order from the judicial authority or administrative authorities on a shop, papers or other things.
The Prosecution indicated that according to Article 326 of Federal Decree-Law No 31 for 2021 promulgating the Crimes and Penalties Law, it is punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding Dhs10,000, or by one of these two penalties, whoever removes, breaks up or destroys one of the seals placed upon an order from the judicial authority or administrative authorities on a shop, papers or other things, or by any means, spoils the purpose of placing the seal.
The penalty will be imprisonment if the perpetrator is the guard. If the perpetrator did violence against persons when committing the crime, this will be considered an aggravating act.
