The case dated back to last July when a US citizen filed a complaint in which he stated that a gold chain and Dhs1,000 had been stolen from his house. The complainant said he met a girl in a nightclub and asked her to spend the night with him in his house near Dubai Media City, adding that later he discovered that some of his belongings had disappeared.
As soon as they reached his house, he and the girl drank alcoholic beverages but he could not stay awake and slept, he said, adding that when he woke up, he did not find the girl and discovered that a gold chain worth around $8,000 as well as Dhs1,000 and sunglasses that were in his bedroom cabinet had disappeared. He reported the incident to the police accordingly.
According to the official documents, Dubai Police’s operations room received a complaint that an African was trying to sell a chain that he seemed to have melted and did not have a bill to show that he owned it. He was arrested by a patrol. On interrogation, he admitted that the chain belonged to his girlfriend who asked him to sell it. He led the police to where his girlfriend was and she was arrested.
The girl confessed to have stolen the chain from a man, who invited her to his house, and asked her boyfriend to sell it and divide the priced between them.
