In a shocking incident, a Turkish Airlines flight to Jakarta was forced to make an emergency landing after a drunk passenger argued with the flight attendants and bit one staffer’s finger.
The incident happened on Wednesday on a Turkish Airlines flight, traveling from Istanbul to Jakarta.
Video of the incident posted on social media shows a man punching a crew member with plastic handcuffs in his hand.
Other flight attendants were seen rushing in to reduce the chaos.
One of the flight attendants was also seen kicking the passenger amid the ruckus.
The plane, which was due to arrive in Jakarta, was forced to divert to Kuala Lampur in Malaysia.
According to media reports, the passenger, identified as an Indonesian citizen and pilot of another carrier, was intoxicated and had bitten the finger of a flight attendant.
He was warned to calm down by the flight attendants, however, this only upset him further, which led to him biting off the finger of one of the crew members on board.
Turkish Airlines reportedly said the actions of its employees in no way reflect the values of the company.
Moreover, according to Indonesian media, a Jakarta police spokesperson informed that the man, who caused the altercation, was subdued and escorted off the plane, received medical treatment at a health facility at Kuala Namu airport.
The incident is being investigated by Deli Serdang Police, which operates in the Medan area.
