In less than five hours, the Sharjah Police managed to nab an Arab driver in his fifties in a hit-and-run accident. The culprit ran over an Arab in his thirties, killing him on the spot before running away.
The operations room received a report at 3pm on Sunday that a run-over accident took place on Al Taawun Street in Sharjah where a man died and the culprit ran away. The competent authorities at Sharjah Police immediately launched a manhunt for the culprit and managed in less than five hours to identify and nab him.
The culprit confessed to having run over the victim, pleading that his feeling of confusion and fear was behind his failure to stop. The case is being transferred to the competent authorities.
Sharjah Police notes that escaping from the scene of the accident is a crime punishable by law in accordance with the Federal Traffic Law, calling on drivers to take the initiative of helping victims and saving their lives, shouldering humanitarian and social responsibility and not escaping to avoid criminal responsibility.
